Your offers

Assumptions are yours to set. Equity is entered as an annual value you are willing to count. Set it to 0 if you prefer to ignore illiquid equity.

About this tool

Offers are rarely comparable at a glance. A higher base can lose to a lower base with a reliable bonus, a meaningful match and a city where rent is 25% cheaper. The comparison tool turns each offer into an annual total, then adjusts it for cost of living so the numbers describe the same life.

Equity deserves care. Public-company RSUs can be valued near face value; private-company options are speculative. The tool does not decide for you — it applies the annual equity value you enter, which is the honest way to compare packages you value differently.

Ask before you model: actual bonus payouts for the last two years, vesting schedules, health-plan premiums and deductibles, and whether relocation is taxable. Those four answers move the totals more than most negotiation tactics.

Common questions

Should I include a signing bonus?

Add it to the first-year total if you want a year-one comparison, but not to the recurring total. Keeping it out of the annual figure avoids overstating a one-time payment.

How should I value private-company equity?

Conservatively. Enter zero if you would not count it, or a fraction of the grant value if you accept the risk. The point of the comparison is to make your assumption visible, not to predict an exit.

Can I compare more than three offers?

Not in this tool. Comparing three at once is already at the limit of what a person can weigh honestly; if you have more, shortlist the best three first.
