Privacy Policy — RoleReady

This Privacy Policy explains what information RoleReady ("we", "us") collects when you visit this website, what it does with that information, and the choices you have. It applies to the website and every tool on it.

1. The short version

The resume builder, cover letter generator, ATS checker, keyword extractor, calculators and interview tools run entirely in your browser. We never receive the content you type into them. There are no accounts, no document uploads to our servers and no customer database of resumes. The site does receive standard technical information from your browser and hosting provider, and third-party advertising may use cookies as described below.

2. Information we collect

Information you enter into the tools

Everything typed into a tool — contact details, work history, salary figures, job descriptions and notes — is processed locally by JavaScript in your browser. It is not transmitted to us. If a tool offers draft saving, the draft is stored in your browser's local storage on your device only. Clearing site data or using a private browsing window removes it.

Technical information

When you request a page, our hosting provider may log standard technical data such as the requested URL, timestamp, approximate region derived from IP address, browser type and referring page. These logs are used for security, debugging and aggregate traffic measurement. We do not use them to identify individuals.

Information you send us directly

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to respond and to keep a record of the request.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. RoleReady does not set advertising or analytics cookies itself. However, third-party services we use — in particular advertising partners such as Google — may set cookies or read identifiers when ads are shown.

Essential storage. Local storage entries created by our tools (for example, a saved draft) are strictly functional and stay on your device.
Advertising cookies. If third-party ads are displayed, partners such as Google may use cookies to serve and measure ads, including personalised advertising. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites.
Consent. Where law requires consent for advertising cookies, we will request it before non-essential cookies are set, and you can withdraw consent at any time through the consent control or your browser settings.

You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, or manage third-party cookies in your browser. Information about opting out of many vendors is available at aboutads.info.

4. How we use information

To operate the site, deliver pages and keep it secure.
To understand aggregate traffic and improve content and tools.
To display and measure advertising that keeps the tools free.
To respond to messages, corrections and privacy requests.
To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use the content of your resume for advertising, profiling or model training, because we do not receive it.

5. Third-party advertising and links

Advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons or similar technologies to measure ad performance and, where permitted, to personalise ads. Those partners have their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to read. Links to external sites are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

6. Legal bases and your rights

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on legitimate interests for hosting, security and aggregate measurement, consent for non-essential advertising cookies, and contract or legitimate interests for responding to your messages. Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to processing, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

California residents may have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise a right, email hello@roleready.com; we may need to verify your request, and we will respond within the time required by law. Because tool content never reaches us, the practical scope of such requests usually concerns correspondence you have sent us.

7. Data retention

Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting, then deleted or aggregated. Email correspondence is kept for as long as necessary to handle the request and maintain a record. Drafts in your browser remain until you clear them.

8. Children's privacy

The site is intended for people aged 16 and older and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We use HTTPS and keep the site software patched. Because the tools never transmit your document, the main security question for your data is the security of your own device and browser. Use a trusted device, keep your browser updated, and clear local drafts on shared computers.

10. International transfers

Our hosting and advertising providers may process technical data in countries other than yours. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. The "last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
